Studio
Regions is interested in architecture that emerges from a close understanding of place, people, materials, and use.
The studio works across residential, civic, and commercial projects. Each project begins with attention to what is already present: the site, the existing conditions, the needs of the client, and the larger setting around the work.
Why Regions
The name Regions reflects an interest in the many conditions that shape a place over time. Geography is part of that story, along with climate, history, patterns of use, construction, and the lives of the people who occupy it.
No project is shaped by one thing alone. It exists within overlapping conditions, some visible and some less obvious. The studio studies those conditions carefully and allows them to inform the work.
Where We Begin
Every project begins differently.
Sometimes there is a clear need: a house, an addition, a renovation, a workplace, or a building that has reached a turning point. Other times the goals are less defined. A site has been acquired, an organization is planning for the future, or an opportunity exists but its direction is still uncertain.
The early stages are spent listening, asking questions, visiting the site, and understanding the opportunities and constraints that already exist. Drawings and models are used to test ideas, compare alternatives, and make decisions before significant commitments are made.
The process develops through ongoing discussion with clients, consultants, builders, and other contributors. Over time, the project begins to take shape as a response to the circumstances that make it specific.
Who We Are
Regions was founded by Jason Roberts, AIA.
Before establishing the studio, Jason worked with architecture practices in Chicago, New York, San Francisco, and Texas. Most recently, he was an Associate Principal at Krueck Sexton Partners in Chicago, where he worked on projects ranging from private residences to large institutional and international commissions.
He holds a Master of Architecture from Yale University.
Regions was established to create architecture through close working relationships, careful observation, and an active process of drawing, making, and refinement.
